Police seize approximately $1,440 in Illicit Drugs

Police seize approximately $1,440.00 in Illicit Drugs

After a five week long Under Cover Drug Operation titled “Project Bridge” the Anishinabek Police Service (APS) assisted by the OPP Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau (POIB), OPP Organized Crime and Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) executed a search warrant at a Fort William First Nation residence on the 15th of December 2016. 

The investigation resulted in the seizure of approximately 18 grams of Cocaine. Street value of all drugs is approximately $1,440.00.  Police also seized a digital scale and cocaine packaging materials. The APS has charged three people with the following drug related offences:

 1.     Tara Theresa Maclaurin (32 years) of the Fort William First Nation has been charged with:

a.     ‎Trafficking a Schedule I Substance-Cocaine (X5)
b.    Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance-Cocaine

 2.     Cheri Lynn Martinkus (38 years) of the Fort William First Nation has been charged with:

a.     Trafficking a Schedule I Substance-Cocaine (X6)
b.    Possession of Property Obtained by Crime / Proceeds (X6)

 3.     Joshua Bannon (26 years) of the Fort William First Nation has been charged with:

a.     Trafficking a Schedule I Substance-Cocaine
b.    Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance-Cocaine.

Two individuals will be released from custody with a court date of and one has been held in custody pending a Bail Hearing on December 16th, 2016. 

Two additional adult women, both Fort William First Nation residents will be charged with:

a.     Trafficking a Schedule I Substance-Cocaine (X3)
b.    Possession of Property Obtained by Crime / Proceeds (X2)
