DECEASED MALE LOCATED IN THE AREA OF LOCH  LOMOND LAKE

 

(FORT WILLIAM FIRST NATION, ON) - The Anishinabek Police Service with the assistance of members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit and Thunder Bay Police Service are currently conducting a sudden death investigation. 

On February 9, 2017 the Anishinabek Police Service received a call regarding an abandoned motor vehicle located on the Fort William First Nation.  Investigation revealed that the vehicle was registered to a male reported missing to the Thunder Bay Police Service on February 2, 2017. 

Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) conducted a search in the area of Loch Lomond Lake and on February 10, 2017 they located a deceased male who was subsequently identified as 25-year-old Matthew NICHOLAS from Thunder Bay.

A postmortem examination was conducted on February 15th, 2017 in Toronto and this matter will now continue as a Coroner's investigation.
